2018 on the road late May/June

Woke up on this Saturday morning May 26 and thought a couple of days at Canungra would be a nice break but Alice had other thoughts and stayed on the Highway.
Looks like I might need my warm clothes in the near future. FREEDOM is so precious.

DAY ONE ... Stayed the night at Murrwullimbah* showgrounds The spaces have been cut back to 25 now but there is still plenty of room for one more. A few showers but nothing to worry about and the sun was shining on Sunday morning..  Sunday turned out to be Market Day but as anyone who knows me will know I didn't even go for a stroll through.

DAY TWO ... Had an early start to the day and headed south after filling up in Ballina. Fuel was 155.9 and I can just hope it comes down soon.. Lots of roadworks but it was a leisurely drive to the M1. First time I have been through the Tweed Valley range and it is a beautiful drive.
I arrived at New Italy free camp and decided to stop there today and have a sleep. Feeling much better but still have to be careful.

Dinner is done and the comp battery is low so more from me tomorrow night.  CHEERS Barb

DAY THREE  ...  Lots of rain overnight and backpackers partying until midnight but I had a good sleep once I got there, set off about 10am and headed south. There is plenty of roadworks happening on that road and by the time it is finished it will be a dream to drive on.
Was pointed to the wrong highway at Grafton and I swear that Gwydir crossing is the longest range crossing on the east coast. It was a good trip with some nice scenery, however I was happy to see the end of it.
Glenn Innes Information Centre has a Sapphire shop and there are Bliue, Yellow and Green sapphires on display. Of course the ring I liked must have been the most expensive one there at $6670. Might have to save for a few more years before it is mine. (:

Set out from Glen Innes for Armidale and found a truckstop for the night, excellent choice for a stop since I found out it has HOT SHOWERS. Decided they were worth my buying a meal in return for the convenience.  Steak sandwich with the works (less the egg) and I don't think I will need to eat for the rest of the trip.
Sleep time now and I am not happy leaving the fireplace behind lol but my bed is nice and warm.
OH did I mention I pulled my big coat out from under the mattress. (: (:
Cheers until tomorrow night.

DAY FOUR ...    Tuesday.
Found a nice camp at Bendemere for $5, no showers but plenty of open spaces and very quite.  Woke up to cold weather and found ALICE isn't a fan of the cold either. Sat until 11.30am waiting for the NRMA and finally on the road again. Nice liesurely drive

DAY FIVE ....  Off to Gunnadah and found more hot showers. Winning. Enjoying the slow pace of this trip so far Have taken the chance to stop along the way and take some photos but they will be uploaded later.  The car is back to starting first go again so it must have been the driver hehehe.

DAY SIX .... Thursday. ... Nundle was on the agenda but it was so cold I decided I would see it on the way back. Lots more roadworks happening.  Went to see if Vinnies had any scarfs because I left mine in my footy bag. Walking across the road I picked up $1 another win.  Got inside and found a nice warn scarf and noticed the EFTPOS wasn't working but decided to ask the price anyway.
Would you believe the guy behind the counter said $1 whuch was another win since I don't carry cash (:
Arrived at a truckstop at Gilgandra and thought it was time to rest for the day.  Message to call the hospital and got the news that I have to be back in Brisbane by the end of the month. I am half way to whee I am going so I decided to keep going/

DAY SEVEN ... Friday June 1st. WINTER has arrived. I was going to try for the border today and made na good effort. Went through Dubbo, Parks and Forbes as well as a host of small towns. Got to West Wylong and found a laundrymat to do some much needed washing. After putting $6 in the dryer and it was still saying ADD  I thought  was a bit much
Cheers and sleep well, I know I will.

2018 FOOTY SEASON

Day ONE .....    Tuesday

Well what a lost day this was!  Didn't have to  wake up because I didn't sleep,  Just get out there and get started I tells myself.  70 kilometers later I haven't even seen a Boonah sign so with the help of a young lady going to work I finished up back in Beenleigh vowing to smash the Navman.

Not to be deterred by that I se off down the coast road where I should have gone in the first place.

Now I am in Ballina and on my way to see the first game of the season at the weekend. Bring it on and GOPIES.

I am sure there will be many more "Scenic Routes" before I arrive at my destination, all I need to do is make sure I keep the fuel tank full hahaha.

.Cheers Barb ... Wednesday

DAY TWO .....  Left Ballina and headed across the Great Divide at Grafton.  did the range crossing on Armidale street instead of the Gwider and found it much worst road wise.wasted mst of the day going with the Navman in circles, finished the day in Musslebrook. Not very far along and through rain and loads of roadworks.

DAY THREE. ... Thursday

Finally worked ut where I had ti gi and apart from the fore mentioned rain and road works I  had a great run and got as far as Jerilderrie. Slept like a log and woke up ready to find m way through Melbourne.

DAY FOUR.... friday

So proud of me ... hehe ... Straight through the suburbs and arrived at where I had to be without

Met the lads and then went to my camper to sleep and .get ready for the first game on Saturday. a hitch.

DAY SIX ... First game  March 24.

Stayed 2 weeks with Ray and Alan and had a look around the city then it as time to head home for a while.

The Navman didn't survive the  cut it finished up in the campfire after I arrived 3.5 hours later than I should have, might have to rely on the map from here on in.
