A week in Batemans Bay

32 years later and I find myself back in Batemans Bay and what a week it was.
Finally found out that the disused Bowls club is now used as a caravan park for short stays.
Met some great nomads there including Tracy and Phil
who have taken as long to leave the Bay as it took me to leave Brisbane. We shared a fantastic week watching whales at Malua Bay and also risking our lives at the top of a cliff.

Lord knows why we kept going when we saw the stairs but the view was worth it. Poor Tracy had the handrail come off in her hand on the way down but we were able to have a laugh, didn't see any whalesfrom up there though.
Next stop Moruya
where we stayed for the night and went kayaking  on the river. Well done me!!!!! First time for everything.

Every where we have been there have been  flocks of Magpies. They love me 😊 and they are beautiful.

Found a gorgeous boardwalk on the Morua river that took us to a cute little del

A loud mouthed hoon sent us away from there! Better to be safe than sorry.
Back to the Bowls club for a night where we met Bill. Wow how awesome was his rig!  Even had a button to lower and raise the bed.  Lounge room by day, bed room by night.
Friday set alarms bells ringing when the smell of petrol got too much so off to Phils mechanic. What a gem he was! Lunchtime Friday and he fit my car in to have an O ring replaced. Thanks to my mechanic at home I was very lucky it didn't catch fire.
Flat tablet more later about the trip down to Victoria.

Free camp ebegeebes

Saturday morning saw me on the road again looking for the elusive free camp!
I had thought to take the weekend slowly but no go, drove for hours looking for a camp and finally found one near Ulladulla.
Wow howscary was tat for a new traveller!
There was one other camping couple thefe which seemed good at the time but then dark came. Close to the highway and black as pitch, no lights anywhere, whjch was strange for a rest stop. no sleep for me there.
No worries I told myself I will find a good one for tonight.
Wardell Swamp rest area was suggested by a few people but on checking it out I noticed there were no lights there either, and with the only other people there being 2 men off I go to search again.  Seems there was nothing around Moruya so back to Batesmans Bay were i found a freebie in the disused Bowjs club carpark. Yay looks like a good night's sleep coming up. Plan is to  stay here for most of this week

Time with family

What an interesting week this was!! Left Maitland to look for a coupe of free camps for the week and was dissapointed at the lack of them on the highway.
Got pulled over by a highway patrol ... not sure why ... and he tod me where to find the next one at Macksvilke. Seems they are all off the highway since the bypass went in.
The van was rocked by the wind all night so no sleep to be had there.
Had a beautiful drive to the Hawksbury on Wednesday and found a nice camp at the boat ramp. Left the next morning to head to see Noel and Heather, pretty happy with how I handled the traffic even though I took a scenic tour from Hornsby. So pleased I got to spend a couple of days with them remembering way back to when we were kids out west. Precious memories as we are getting older. Managed to get the solar charged to 3 as well so that was a bonus.
Its in the diary for a visit on the way back. Love them to bits and dont see enough of them.
