LIFE AFTER LOCKDOWN

Back in Brisbane for some more maintenance before I hit the road south. 

The finger is starting to look normal again and holds a big reminder to look out for guy ropes. 

The message is that I am better off without the tent. 

The camp stove has been painted so hopefully it won’t rust and there will be many warm evenings and delicious meals as a result.

Hardest job I have before I go is the CULL that means being ruthless but hey, it’s only stuff. It’s amazing how little you really need to live comfortably.

Still have to wait for my glasses as the optometrist wasn’t happy with the reading he got, more waiting around!

Best part of the whole being home thing was spending time with Archie, what an adorable little great grand son he is.
I would love to spend more time with the little ones but everyone is so busy these days. I love my video calls with them most weeks and they also enjoy chatting. ❤️❤️❤️

Hopefully on Tuesday I will get good news from the mechanic, the brakes haven’t failed me again so fingers crossed it was just dust.

EIGHT WEEKS OF LOCKDOWN

With the country starting to open up again it is time to review how things have been with me at the campsite.

The weather has been excellent for this time of the year with only one really cold night. I’ve had the heater on only because I can and only to take the chill off things at night.

It was nice to see the old fruit and Veg grocer is still in some communities.  We all gathered around on Tuesday mornings to get our weekly supply’s and all at a reasonable price.

I’ve gathered a few extra things around me whilst I’ve been sitting still.

The TENT I bought makes a great little kitchen so I just have to zip the door when I want to go for a drive. Much better than leaving everything sitting in the open.

    My little CAMPSTOVE is a great acquisition, it keeps me warm as well as saving butane when I cook. A bonus is the off cuts from the saw mill which are free for the taking.  The downside is it needs PotBelly paint to stop the rust.

Our resident fitness guy brings the wood back in a wheel barrow, oh to be so fit!!!

Fresh fruit and veg delivered to the campground meant we had the best of everything.

We had a gathering to celebrate with one of the campers (from France) when she received a 12months extension on her visa

We taught her to make scones.

It was at this gathering that I mentioned I must get a satellite dish to watch TV.  BINGO !!!!!!  Someone had one for sale.  Right place right time and $250 well spent.

My asthma doesn’t like the thin air up here but that’s all sorted now.

Cooking hasn’t ever been one of my first loves (I can get by on toast and vegemite but I have managed a few excellent cook ups. Loving my ECO POT, best thing I ever bought.This is not the EcoPot but almost as good.

Had a couple of trips into Kyogle and Lismore for grocery shopping and to get my ears fixed when one of my aides stopped working.

I have met some wonderful people here which has helped the time fly and it’s been fun.

Margo was a colourful character who had no idea about social distancing.  Beatrice is enjoying improving her English with an excellent teacher in Brandon.  Sam never sits still.

Of course meeting up with old friends and spending time was a bonus. 

Just a couple of random pics here.

The first one os the garden a couple planted and called it Covid Garden.  We almost harvested some tomatoes, there were flowers on.

Covid 19 ISOLUTION

Here we are four weeks into the lockdown all around Australia. How are you all doing?

I have been lucky enough to be locked in at a campground with an awesome bunch of people. Everything I need is I the ground ie: laundry, showers, water etc.

 Fire pits are the way to go and of course we keep our distancing as per government regulations. The marshmallows are a great way to end The day

The weather has been very kind and there has been only one cold night.








Shopping has become the highlight of the week and we all look forward to the lady who brings fresh fruit and vegetables  every Tuesday straight from the market.

The pub is only open on Friday and only for bottle sales, they also have some extra specials due to much stock just sitting and no one knows when all this isolution will end.

 Another casualty has been the gyms and playgrounds.
They have all been closed off and it is a very sad sight to see in our wonderful country.

This is something we are all becoming used to seeing more of.  With the camp in lockdown and absolutely no-one else allowed in the police do the rounds every couple of days to make sure the regulations are being adhered to.

I guess One good thing to come out of all this is  the home cooked meals. By the end of it I might even be able to throw together something tasty

 Walking has become everyone’s favourite pass time. Since there is no TV reception without a satellite 📡.

.Almost ready to roll

Im happy to say that after almost twelve months sitting still I should be back out there by the end of January.
Whilst I have been well looked after here and have had an opportunity to do some alterations in my van, I cant wait to be on the move again.
I think my first stop will be Bingara, and I am looking forward to going back there, my destination for this year will be South Australia.. Of course that will be between Magpie games.
