What an adventure that was!

Yes I was awake early enough to catch the flight!

This was two years ago and I thought it had been posted.

First stop LAX!  That was a long flight but we are not there yet, still 7 hours to go. After a nice cab ride from the airport we found our motel and had a very welcome shower and coffee. The motel was not too bad but we came to the conclusion that the next trip will be to a motel on the beach.
During a walk around the neighborhood we discovered lots of places we could have spent our $$$$, just as well Trish was in charge of finances.
Found the most amazing Ukelele  shop, there were hundreds on display varying sizes and colours. Moving on to the markets where we bought a few things including some things for the littlies and a sarong or two.
Amazing trip.
More soon.

WE ARE OFF TO AMERICA!

Well everything is booked and ready for Trish and I to enjoy our trip.
What started out as a five day trip to Colorado for a Bluegrass festival to see BILLY STRINGS is now a three week adventure.
Just 19 days until our flight to Hawaii and checking that all the ducks are lined up along the way.

We are home but there will be more in the next few days about our trip.

MY GUITAR.

Finally feel like I am getting somewhere with my playing!

Lots of fun and practice is definitely getting better although not perfect  yet. I have plenty of time on my hands. Couple of weeks down the track and feeling good about everything.

ONTO MY POST CORNEAL GRAFTS TRIP.

DAY 1   27/05/2021

Left Kalbar for a trip into the warmth. First night at Kilcoy and I froze, best get the big rug out again. Uneventful trip but I’m finally on my way for the first time in 2 years.

Day 2

Changed plans and went to Goomeri QLD for the pumpkin festival to meet up with some friends. Called in to Moore for breakfast and found an awesome cafe that sells the best casual clothes. Left in a hurry and saved a couple of hundred $$$$.  Arrived in Goomeri and camped up behind the Servo. Now to go and check out the town, or what there is to see.

DAY 3

Well that didn’t go to plan and I returned from whence I came to regroup before heading north again.

After a couple of days in Kalbar I took a trip to Rathdowney to meet up with a traveller who wants to do a trip north with me. We are both held up with car repairs being done. I found out that my auto choke is the reason my van has been slow to start, hopefully it won’t cost an arm and leg to get fixed.

Had a nice lunch with family to celebrate  my great grandson’s first birthday and fulfilled a couple of requests from Tracey and now ready to go.

Winter has certainly hit us with snow at Guyra overnight which has sent an Antarctic wind just to remind us that north QLD is beckoning.

2020/2021 ENJOYING THE MUSIC.

Just an update on the past 5 month!

All the medical appoints and follow ups have been completed and I  was ready to go. The Covid put a stop to that with yet another border closure so I am sitting at Canungra enjoying the scenery and music.

A visit from a friend of one of the campers proved inspirational to me so I now have a Ukulele and a nice shines red Guitar.

March 5th saw me more than ready to leave Canungra and head for Spring Gully for the Coast Acoustics Club March meetup weekend. What an amazing weekend it turned out to be.

I met some fantastic musicians, ate delicious Mexican foods can enjoyed a bourbon or two around the campfire., learnt a lot about what I need to do to and how to do it to become proficient on my Guitar and Ukulele. Practice, practice, practice is the order of the day. Thank goodness I have plenty of time at my “finger tips”

Watch this space in a little while for a video of my progress.

Of course it wouldn’t be a music meet without a concert and we weren’t disappointed. Hopefully in five months time at the next one I will be able to entertain along with the rest of them.

Some of the late stayers.

More pics when I get on the other device.

LIFE AFTER LOCKDOWN

Back in Brisbane for some more maintenance before I hit the road south.
The finger is starting to look normal again and holds a big reminder to look out for guy ropes.
The message is that I am better off without the tent.

The camp stove has been painted so hopefully it won’t rust and there will be many warm evenings and delicious meals as a result.

Hardest job I have before I go is the CULL that means being ruthless but hey, it’s only stuff. It’s amazing how little you really need to live comfortably.

Still have to wait for my glasses as the optometrist wasn’t happy with the reading he got, more waiting around!

Best part of the whole being home thing was spending time with Archie, what an adorable little great grand son he is.
I would love to spend more time with the little ones but everyone is so busy these days. I love my video calls with them most weeks and they also enjoy chatting. ❤️❤️❤️

Hopefully on Tuesday I will get good news from the mechanic, the brakes haven’t failed me again so fingers crossed it was just dust.

Until next time take care.
Cheers Babs.
