Beautiful scenery on the way through the Yarra Ranges
Great drive to NOOJEE then we travel the logging road which is windy and narrow. There are check points on this road where drivers going up or down have to radio where they are for saftey. Had a scare when one truck met us on a bend unannounced but we made it safely.
The camp ground was totally full when we arrived, packed in like sardines because it was a long weekend but it soon cleared as they all headed off for work and school. Love the benifits of being retired.
Nice relaxed day to start what was to be a week there but that was not to be.
Just one of the BBQ pits
Having a chat
Some people we meet along the way.
Tuesday was action day and we headed back down the mountain and up a different one to the waterfalls.
It was a beautiful walk although long and steep in places. The find at the end was well worth the effort.
The water ran for miles over and through the rocks and trees.
Gary went for a walk in it and found it was so cold he couldnt feel his legs when he got out.
On a different note it was crystal clear and tasted sweet.
The climb to the first waterfall was 45 minutes and awesome exercise :) Absolutely beautiful and I was all ready to go on th the next one, however; Kerry was having trouble with her asthma so we went back down. Next stop was Trestle Bridge at NOOJEE.
Not far away is the Rail station that they used for logging in 1900 and the original steam engine is on display, sad you are not allowed to climd in because of safety reasons.
Next stop, and last for the day was the Bridge. More stairs!!!!! Felt like a thousand at this end of the day
It's a long way to the top
No doubt the engineering skills back then were equally as good as they are today.
Back to the camp and ready for a good nights' sleep.
WEDNESDAY 15TH
We were not prepared for what this day would bring.
Peter and Tracy left early to go into Melbourne for an appointment and we headed for The Junction. The 7 klm we were told it was turned out to be 70 klm of windy mountain roads.
Before we even picked up a basket to shop, Gary got a call to say there was a death in the family. This call changed the whole trip for all of us.
They turned around and started out for Sydney and I went to the Truck stop to wait for them all to be ready to hit the Great Ocean Road.
Four days there miles from nowhere, 68 klm to get groceries is just a tad far for me so I could see things would have to change. Beautiful as it was it was too far from anywhere to sit for two weeks.
Next stop the Football if I can find the ground. :)
